Greetings from the Stiles-Nicholson STEM Teacher Academy (SNSTA) at FAU Schools!

The Stiles-Nicholson STEM Teacher Academy aims to develop teachers in STEM education so that they can expand the outreach in their classrooms by preparing students for the jobs of the future. Teachers matter more to student achievement than any other aspect of schooling. The SNSTA is built on the premise that every teacher who steps in front of the classroom will have an immediate multiplier effect. This formula boils down to one teacher for every 15, 20, or more students per class that they teach! The impetus then goes toward preparing a force of quality educators that will execute this formula. Our goal is to inspire educators to reframe learning and instruction- drawing on this multiplier effect.

Led by nationally-recognized STEM specialists and industry leaders, along with the SNSTA collaborators, we offer educators hands-on professional development. Our Professional Learning Series workshops are aligned to curriculum standards so that teachers can share what they learned with their hundreds of students. STEM is not a curriculum- It is not another ingredient in the academic kitchen - it is the recipe for helping learners apply their knowledge & skills, collaborate with their peers, and understand the relevance of what they are learning. Teachers do make a difference in student achievement—and it can be impactful!

We are excited for the opportunity to serve our educators and make a difference in all students’ futures!

Warm regards,

Pilar Forero Taylor, Director of the Stiles-Nicholson STEM Teacher Academy
