Biological Imaging for Curriculum Enhancement

Teachers will get a chance to discover how to bring the fascinating world of biological imaging into their classrooms—even without high‑tech lab equipment. You’ll explore where to find free, publicly available biological imaging data and learn practical ways to integrate it into your lessons to spark student curiosity and deepen understanding. Whether you teach with a single computer, a projector, or just printed visuals, you’ll leave equipped with ready-to-use strategies that make complex science concepts come alive.

During the workshop, teachers will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn what biological imaging is and why it’s such a powerful teaching tool.
  • Identify reliable online sources for images and datasets that can be used in any science classroom.
  • Practice incorporating biological imaging into lessons to enhance student engagement and retention.
  • Explore how digital images can be transformed into physical, 3D learning aids.

After the workshop, you will get a behind-the-scenes experience in a state-of-the-art science laboratory, where you can see high‑tech biological imaging tools in action. Before you leave, you’ll receive a FREE classroom STEM kit—packed with hands-on materials—so you can immediately bring experiential learning back to your students.

Participants of this workshop will receive a free classroom STEAM kit to use with up to 25 students.

FACILITATOR: Dr. Lauren Simonitis
