Ocean First at Wahoo Bay: Discovering Coastal Ecology by Boat

Guided by Dr. Chris Malinowski, Katie Hendrickson, and the Ocean First Institute team, educators became scientists for the day during Ocean First at Wahoo Bay: Discovering Coastal Ecology by Boat.

In the morning, teachers conducted field research aboard a vessel in Wahoo Bay, collecting water samples, identifying species, and gathering real-world data to bring back to their classrooms. The afternoon moved to the labs at A.D. Henderson University School, where teachers analyzed their findings and explored how to adapt ocean science for their grade levels.

The workshop wrapped with teachers reflecting on best practices for field-based learning and heading home with STEAM kits to spark student curiosity.
