Everyday Science & Nature Journaling: Nurturing Literacy Skills in Students on introducing educators to two key types of student journaling: everyday science journals and surprise journals, alongside nature journals. The objectives include familiarizing participants with essential concepts such as everyday science encompassing knowledge, skills, and attitudes, the learning derived from unexpected moments, interdisciplinary approaches in nature journaling, and the versatility of student and teacher journals in achieving various pedagogical objectives. Attendees will be provided with necessary materials for journaling, including journaling materials such as color pencils, magnifying glasses, binoculars, and possibly other relevant technological tools. Additionally, educators were encouraged to come prepared with suitable outdoor clothing to facilitate nature observation activities. Throughout the workshop, participants engage in interactive sessions, discussions, and hands-on activities to explore the potential of everyday science and nature journaling in nurturing literacy skills among students. The workshop aims to equip educators with practical strategies and tools to integrate these journaling techniques into their teaching practices, promoting interdisciplinary learning, curiosity, and critical thinking among students.

Canoeing and hiking is involved as part of this workshop. Please dress accordingly.
